| Rondane
is amongst the most beautiful and popular of Norway's mountainous
areas, with its impressive landscape but easy walking terrain, is
nowadays av very popular area for recreation. Originally
Høvringen was a large seter: a collection of buildings used by
farmers' families whilst their animals were at their summer pasture in
the mountains. Its proximity to the Rondane mountain ranges has
contributed to Høvringen's long traditions as a tourist
destination. |
The landscape
at Høvringen and in Rondane is impressive. A
comprehensive nettwork of marked paths carries you into the mighty
mountain landscape. You can choose short walks in ancient pine forests,
walks in easy mountain terrain or more demanding walks to one of
Rondanes many peaks over 2000 metres.
There are
several small and large mountain lakes, rivers and streams
which give good opportunities for those who wish to try their fishing
skills.

How to reach Høvringen and Rondane
Only 8 km off the Gudbrandsdalen E6-highway, Høvringen is easily
accessible, both summer and winter, by means of both public transport
and car.
The road is of good standard and kept open all the year round. There
are good bus- and train connections to Otta Skysstasjon Station from
all over the country, and from there you can either get to
Høvringen by hotel transport or local bus
